November 15, 2008 : Hello Ladies!

Done and done. Thanks to Kat Sapene we now have photos of the completely approved Marvel Girl figures. Although you can’t tell from the pics, they turned out a bit smaller than I had hoped, but have no fear, a little resizing at the factory and they’ll be back in scale in no time. Until then, go place your orders - you know you want them (both).

: All your base are belong to us!

HA! I can’t believe it took me over 9 years to work that back into an official work-related writing. Anyway, today I am here to tell you about the base that will be coming with the Marvel Select Marvel Girl action figure. This little guy is a thing of beauty. At first glance, it just looks like half of a gate to enter Xavier’s. BUT, the sign on the pillar will be Xavier’s School for Jean Grey and will be Xavier Institute for the chase figure, Rachel Summers. For those who are lucky enough to get both, the bases can be connected to form a full-functioning two-part gate. What’s even cooler is, not only does this work with any X-Men type character, but our factory can swap out gate pieces if we were to ever make someone from another group like, say, maybe the Avengers (what? me, hinting at something? never.)

: Rachel! Put some clothes on, woman!

Eh, so this is way rougher than I’d normally let anyone see, but I’m in a sharing mood. Here is the very first look at Sam Greenwell’s sculpt for my Marvel Girl figure. I think he knows I started this project so I could have a good Jean Grey figure, and he sent Rachel’s head to taunt me, but it’s cool. I know Jean will look just as good. I haven’t reviewed the sculpt yet - I was so excited that I had to post it right away, but offhand it looks like it is headed in the right direction. (Although, methinks young Ms. Grey needs to smile more. C’mon, she’s young, she’s hot, she’s got superpowers - Why so serious?)

November 13, 2008 : Mace is here!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - no matter what you think of the films or the character, EVERYONE must buy the UQS Mace Windu because no one can live with themselves if they miss an opportunity to have a 19″ talking Samuel L. Jackson action figure. And, for your viewing pleasure, here he is: 100% approved-by-Lucas. Accessories were tough to come up with, so in addition to the extra hands I throw in for fun poses, Mace will have the Jedi Testing Screen he used on little Anakin in Episode 1.

November 12, 2008 : Mace Windu’s Hong Kong Adventure

Oh yeah! Mace Windu is 100% complete and approved by Lucas and is on his way to the factory. In the coming weeks I will be reviewing various samples to make sure what comes off the line looks like the picture below. BooYah!

: Mace to the Windu!

Dear Readers,

It’s me, DST-Jen, back again with some more Star Wars news, don’t you just love it! I got Mace Windu on my desk this week and by god he is incredible. I had not one but two people come over and comment on how awesome the likeness was and how they plan to buy one to turn it into either a custom Pulp Fiction figure or a snakes on a plane figure. This doesn’t bother me any, I mean common it’s Sammy Jackson! Everyone knows Mace Windu is low on the list of awesome Sammy “J” roles. None the less he is still amazing and you will be blown out of the water when you see his face and how close the likeness is, I mean really I kept seeing him out of the corner of my eye on my desk and it was a little freaky, I was waiting for him to come alive and start yelling about snakes on a plane or ask me what counrty I am from. I shot him and got him all clipped out so expect to see a gallery up soon with lots of great pictures!

getting excited for the UQS!

DST-Jen

: Bantha’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Yeah, I’m not going to screw this moment up with a bunch of words. Just look, and enjoy. Now, look to the future when you are finally going to have a 19″ talking Samuel L. Jackson figure. Once this paint is approved, he is off to the factory and then he’ll be in your hands.

November 11, 2008 : Resistance is Futile

Dear Readers,

It’s rare these days that I get to fill you in on any info regarding any license other than Hasbro and Lucas, but here I am working on some Star Trek stuff this week. This excites me because as seen in the Star Trek Q&A’s here on the blog, Star Trek appears to be fueling our company, so I guess a special thanks to the trekkies for paying my mortgage for me.
