August 12, 2008 : Battlestar Galactica Series 2 Update

The second series of BSG action figures are here and I’ve got a close up look at the bunch.

They’re finally here and I can’t stop playing with them!  No, not my custom Dr Horrible Minimates… BSG Series 2! Hopefully my work on the BSG action figure line can help fill the empty void while we wait for webisodes or TV movies or whatever they’ve got planned.  So far I’m extremely pleased with the results, so let’s start the photos!

The Cylon Centurion in all its glory.  If you’ve already dug through the blog, you’ll remember my earlier post proclaming this little gem to be my pick for 2008’s Action Figure of the Year.  The working pistons, interchangeable guns and hands, fluid articulation… it just captures the raw terror of those frakking toasters really well.  I’m glad we added the additional chest joint for that extra bit of realism.

Ah, my boy Helo.  I may not always be his biggest fan, but Helo gets his second figure with this Viper Helo exclusive.  Notice the all-new sculpt, since Helo is rather on the tall side.  Much larger than Apollo and Hot Dog for sure.  I love how the med-kit actually opens and the inclusion of Helo’s radiation meds.  Those were the good old days before he got stuck as everybody’s conscience.  Still, I can see the Blue Steel.

Ah, the lovely Starbuck.  We went with this hairstyle version as opposed to her more recent look, but we know there’s probably a market for a variant or two there…  Starbuck wound up getting quite a few accessories, but there were a couple we couldn’t include (think Rocky…) so those might show up, too.  The Triad cards and the cigar hands are a fun inclusion and you have to admit that she looks great next to Apollo.

This is my only good shot of Kat, so I may have to go back and get some more non-blurry images.  The Top Gun mug is my favorite accessory and it only comes with her (evil way to make people buy her figure, but I’m OK with it).  And who knows, maybe she winds up being the final Cylon after all?  Quick tip for those of you wanting to display Kat with her helmet on… make sure you carefully remove her ponytail before putting on the helmet.  You should be able to remove it by gently pulling it out at the root.  Mine works like a charm.

For more pictures, some of them extremely cool, just check out the gallery link here. You’ll be able to order this series from our web store shortly if you can’t find these guys in your local comic shop, so stay tuned for more updates!
